About Randomnation

Pages | March 21st, 2006 - 4:50 pm

“Randomnation” is my show on Mercer University’s freeform online radio broadcast. It ‘airs’ at 9:00 pm Wednesday.

The premise of the show is a different theme of music weekly. The themes are randomly selected, by genre, subgenre, era, person, nationality, and opportunity. The best demonstration of this can be seen by looking at my past playlists.

Usually, I don’t know what I’ll be playing from week to week - that’s also part of what makes it random. However, I choose the theme and gather the songs that go in it before the show airs. As such, I can’t really take requests in the usual manner.

I do, on the other hand, highly appreciate anyone putting together a playlist in a theme i can use for a show. I call this “sponsoring” a show; several of my friends have sponsored past shows, like the Shoegaze, Opera, and Celtic Rock shows, among others. If you would like to sponsor a show, please comment.

Other names I considered for the show:

  • All Things Considered
  • Spice of Life
  • Indecisive
